Description
Casa Selci' gets its name from one of the many gates of Volterra., which - due to its Etruscan origins - is one of the oldest cities in Italy.
The house is located inside the medieval walls and it is surrounded by a large walled garden overlooking the Tuscan countryside.The house has two floors: the ground floor - where the front door opens directly to the garden - has a large living-sitting room with a magnificent cross-vaulted exposed brick ceiling. This lovely space has a breakfast bar separating the lounging end from the well equipped kitchen section.
Beyond the living - sitting room there is a small lobby with hand basin, leading to a stylish shower room.
From the living-sitting room a marble staircase leads to the fist floor where there are two large bedrooms, one double and one twin both with exposed beamed ceilings and a closed veranda, all offering super views.All rooms are equipped with comfortable furniture which matches with the old style of the house.
The greatest benefit of this house is its large (around 900 m2) walled garden, one side of which is part of the ancient, medieval city wall; it offers extraordinary views that extend to this marvellous countryside.In the garden, equipped with barbeque, tables, chairs and sun loungers, there are several places to sit, eat, sunbath and relax under fruit and pine trees, home to a variety of birds. Near the vegetable garden there is a 8m-diameter swimming pool.
The washing machine is located in a sort of greenhouse.
A helpful custodian, who tends the garden and pool, lives in a house at the far end of the garden, out of sight of the pool.In Italy, during the summer, songs and dances enliven the evenings in the villages.
Behind the house CASA SELCI there is a park where sometimes the famous flag throwers practise accompanied by evocative, medieval drumbeats.From the garden is possible to hear the sound of the drums and guests may have the chance to see the unique spectacle of the local flag launchers The great advantage of this house is the peace and privacy granted to its guests who at the same time simply need to open the gate of the garden for being quickly in the hearth of Volterra, full immersed in the "world".
